Finally! Another use for condoms has emerged—outside of, you know, protection against pregnancy and STIs. Thanks to a discovery made by one beauty vlogger, you may now want to consider incorporating condoms into your beauty routine by putting one on your Beautyblender.
YouTuber Laila Tahri is credited with thinking up the hack, which she says prevents the Beautyblender from absorbing (and therefore wasting) tons of product in the style of the SiliSponge while still providing the coveted sponge effect.
“Here’s why I think it’s a good idea,” Tahri explained in her YouTube video outlining the technique. “The SiliSponge is really popular right now and the good thing about the SiliSponge is it doesn’t absorb any product, but after trying it, I still prefer a normal sponge. But then I thought, ‘Maybe if I put some plastic around it, it’ll work the same.’ “
Important note: Please wash any lubrication off the condom before you roll it onto your Beautyblender and touch it to your face. Watch Tahri break down the process in this sped-up
Tahri is not alone. Fellow beauty vlogger Itzayana Lizbeth also tested a condom to apply foundation—but she completely skipped the Beautyblender, instead opting to just fill a plain ol’ condom with lotion. The results, she said, were stunning. “By far the best technique that I’ve used as a beauty sponge,” she said in a video. “The SiliSponge and the bra inserts do not compare to this.”
