Taylor Hill on Beauty, Fitness, and Keeping It Real in the Fashion World

Taylor Hill is simultaneously a fixture at fashion shows like Chanel, Versace, Miu Miu, and Versace, Lancôme’s newest ambassador, a veteran Victoria’s Secret Angel…and the goofiest, chattiest 20-year-old you’ve ever met.
We caught up with the Denver native ahead of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris to see what it takes to be one of the busiest—and chilliest—models in the biz:

What she’s using on her skin:

“I literally die if I don’t useLancôme’s Energy de Vie serum, toning gel, and cream. They smell so good and feel cool on your skin. People don’t know about it and I’m shocked. I’m like, ‘You haven’t tried this? No one knows? This stuff is amazing!’”

Her backstage beauty trick:

“Using Scotch tape to clean up stray glitter. They’ll tape under your eye when they put the glitter eye shadow, and Pat McGrath’s been doing the same around the mouth when she does her glitter lip, too.”

Secret talent:

“I do a lot of my own makeup for red carpets and events. My go-to look is a cat eye with liquid liner—I can do it in five seconds. Don’t ask me to do it on someone else, though!”

The one product behind her crazy-good brows:

“The Lancôme Sourcils Gel Waterproof Eyebrow Gel-Cream in Dark Brown. That’s really all I use.”

Her no-fuss hair regimen:

“I have really wavy hair, and it tends to be dry because of that, so I use curl shampoo. Right now I’m using Salma Hayek’s Nuance Blue Agave Curls and Waves shampoo and conditioner.”

Her favorite body product:

“I love coconut oil for my body, all over. I’ll even use it as a face mask some mornings, if I need extra hydration.”

Her pre-show workout routine:

“I did a lot of muscle isolation workouts with my personal trainer, Lauren Duhamel. We incorporated resistance bands, ankle weights, a lot of floor work, Pilates style, without the machine. It was all about really concentrating on stability and connecting my mind to my body.”

Her travel non-negotiables:

“I can’t function if I don’t get like as much sleep as I can. When you travel a lot, the most important thing is to stay hydrated and get lots of rest. So I try really hard to do that.”

Her nervous habit:

“When I get really nervous I talk a lot. Well, I talk a lot no matter what, but I talk a lot more when I’m nervous. I just don’t shut up.”

How she keeps it real in the fashion world:

“Well, I try to be really funny. I end up laughing at my own jokes, though, so people always say, ‘You’re just over there laughing at yourself aren’t you?’ I also read. I’m reading the book series of Game of Thrones right now. I don’t watch it [first]. I like to read it before I watch because usually the book is always 100 times better. I like Star Wars, Harry Potter—anything that has to do with like dragons, I’m like, yes.”
